According to TMZ, media personality Jack Osbourne is refusing to pay spousal support to his estranged wife Lisa.
TMZ reported that Jack only agreed to the divorce settlement because he was told that his former wife would accept an upfront cash payment in lieu of spousal support.
Lisa has maintained that she will file to receive spousal support from her former husband, despite his refusal.
This development comes as a shock considering that the two released a joint statement describing their divorce, while stating that they, “absolutely still love each other.”
“Hello! So the news about us separating has probably come as a bit of a shock to everyone. But, we just want to clear the air and share with you what’s going on,” they composed in their statement
“So, first and foremost, we absolutely still love each other. Our family is the most important thing in our lives, and we tried everything we could for many years to make this work,” the statement continued.
There has been some credible tension between the former duo since Lisa filed for divorce. Earlier this month, Jack allegedly punched his former wife’s boyfriend in the head. He later apologized for his actions, calling “it an overreaction”,
Lisa and Jack separated on May 4, filing for a divorce in May. The filing occurred three months after the couple gave birth to their daughter, Minnie Theodora on February 5. The two also are parents to two other daughters: Andy Rose, 3, and Pearl Clementine, 6.
Lisa filed for joint and physical custody of their children and has asked for visitation for both parents. She is also asking for spousal support and requested for Jack to pay her legal fees. Moreover, she has filed to terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support to Jack.
This discord certainly contradicts their commitment to become “best friends that are committed to raising their children together”.
“What’s best for our family right now is that we separate lovingly, and remain best friends who are committed to raising our children together. We had 7 beautiful years of being a couple, filled with the most amazing moments and we will be eternally grateful to one another for that,” the statement continued. “We also have 3 wonderful children who we cherish more than anything.”
“We are disappointed but feel confident that we will continue to grow our relationship as co-parents and best friends,” the two added. “Lots of love, Jack and Lisa.”
It’s very likely that Jack will be forced by the court to pay spousal support to his estranged wife, especially with his estimated net worth of $10 million.
Nonetheless, if the two are still at an impasse about spousal support, it will inevitably prolong their divorce proceedings from being fully carried out.
If the two are going to become co-parents and “best friends” as they specified in their divorce statement, it stands to reason that they should quickly come to terms and agree to a settlement.
Evidently, the more their divorce proceedings are prolonged, the former couple’s relationship will continue to sour.
